It’s the day before Valentine’s day, and Kai is making cards for his friends and family. Paper and crayons and glue and scissors are spread across the table, and his mom and dad and baby sister help. He’s excited for the party the next day at school and is even happier when he finds out there’s dedicated class time to make cards for all his classmates. Afterward, they get to pass around the cards. Kai is happy when his friend Chelsea says the one he made for her is the most beautiful she’s ever seen.

Getting Ready For Valentine’s Day is written by Vera Ahiyya, The Tutu Teacher and illustrated by Debby Rahmalia. It’s part of the Getting Ready For series that includes other books on starting preschool and kindergarten. It’s a cute story that captures the excitement kids feel about Valentine’s Day.
